An editorial note here. I've been extremely busy at work and at home so my postings have suffered. Not that I haven't been reviewing wines, I just haven't had much time to write up my reviews. I'll try and do better! Today's review is of the 2005 Jewel Viognier. In the past I haven't been a huge fan of this varietal as I've found it to be too sweet for my tastes. I thought I would give this one a try, however, as I've been pleased with other varietals I've tried from Jewel. Once this one was uncorked and poured the aroma of peaches and vanilla were evident in the nose. In the mouth I picked up flavors of sweeter citrus, tangerine maybe, with very little acidity. The finish was uneventful but not off-putting. I only gave this one 3 Corkscrews as I found it average. I paid $8.99/bottle and would buy it again just not anytime soon. I still feel that this grape is just not one I've warmed up to yet. Sit Long, Talk Much, Laugh Often, Drink Wine!
