After a great day of training, which included a lunch of lasagna which was catered by the company and out of this world, I headed back to the hotel. Not usually eating such a large lunch as the one I had today, the need for exercise was great. I came back and went for a thirty minute or so run which reminded me that I need new running shoes. The support in the ones I brought with me is non-existent. After a quick shower and change of clothes I proceeded down to the hotel restaurant where a room had been reserved for our group. On the table were shrimp cocktails for all filled with 8-9 shrimp the size of a small child's hand. I know if, or I should say when, #1 reads this she will be somewhat envious but I will assure that during our mid-Summer trip she is duly wined and dined. After ordering a filet off the menu I ordered a glass of the 05 Sterling Vineyards Napa Valley Chardonnay. Like the Mondavi from last night this wine had a very light, golden color more typical of a pinot grigio. On the nose I picked up pears and vanilla which was followed up with tastes of oak, apple and the vanilla that had made itself known on the nose. Very short finish and limited body made this wine drinkable but nothing to get excited about. As I was finishing this the filet, topped with crab and sauteed asparagus, was served along with a delightful mix of grilled vegetables. All of this, including the wine, was provided by our host which probably made it taste even better. As I didn't pay for my wine I gave this one 3 corkscrews based strictly on the taste. I'm not sure how much this one retails for but it is another one I won't be actively seeking. Sit Long, Talk Much, Laugh Often, Drink Wine!
