Wed. 1/31: Bad weather & 2005 MONTES CHARDONNAY
Wednesday morning greeted us with dire weather forecasts of snow, ice, sleet and a mixture of all with lots of fancy maps showing us what was coming. And, they got it right this time. By 7:30 p.m. we had about 1 inch of snow with a little sleet thrown in for good measure. Now, in Chicago that would get one big yawn but here it is major news. They've got a few salt/sand trucks that make their way out but nowhere near what the Windy City has. The one bright spot was that everything does indeed shut down including school, work, etc. Always able to find a way out to the video store, grocery store, etc. but no one is able to make it to work. At least there is some advantage to inclement weather here in the south. Our weather has gotten better as I write this, here is our latest map, but there is rumor that more bad stuff may be heading our way. As I look out the window I see that there are a few flakes coming down so maybe another day free from work is in my future as well as the kids. Had an enjoyable glass of 2005 Montes Chardonnay last night from Chile as me and #1 sat by a roaring fire after we got the kids to bed. Reasonably priced, about $7.99, nice, light, golden color and very fruity. I would say it is probably kept in oak as it had a nice combination nutty and oakey flavor that we both enjoyed. I would recommend it. It's been awhile since I've had a really bad bottle of wine but I'm sure I will at some point in the future. Didn't want everyone to think that I never come across a bad bottle it has just been awhile. No complaints about that! Sit Long, Talk Much, Laugh Often!
